Increase value with landscaping

Raise your home value with landscaping

Homes with attractive landscaping are more likely to sell than those without, however, you can't expect a 100% return on investment with all landscaping projects. Learn how to get the biggest bang for your buck return in home value with your summer landscaping projects.

Consider the maintenance

Home buyers love a beautiful yard, but they don't always love maintaining a beautiful yard. As you're planning out your landscaping project, consider the upkeep that will be required. Will watering be time consuming and expensive? Do you have sprinkler systems set-up to make it easier to maintain? How will your deck and patio surfaces hold up overtime - will they require frequent upkeep?

Keep it trim

Pruning and trimming existing landscape can have a dramatic influence on a home's appearance. Simply taking the time each spring and winter to trim back bushes and trees can help show neighbors and/or potential buyers that you care for your home well.

Consider the trends

Especially if you're planning to sell in the near future, pay attention to current landscaping trends and include those things today's buyers are dreaming of. Go visit some new homes to see what features are currently being added, and find creative ways to incorporate them into your yard.

Create spaces

Think about things a buyer is most likely going to want to use the yard for. Most people are looking for good entertaining areas, as well as some shaded spaces for the hot summer days. Don't just think about how the yard looks, but how it lives as well. A yard that makes people want to stay awhile is a yard that's going to up the value of your home.
